It’s still mid-summer, but around this time each year is when our thoughts begin to turn to fall fashions. For us it means flipping through the September issues of Vogue, Elle Décor and other sartorial pubs, to see what’s new in both fashion and interiors. Here’s what’s exciting us most on the décor front for Autumn 2019.
Whether it’s a light fixture over your dining room table or wood panelling in your living room, wood grains, stripped timbers and other natural wood finishes are an interior designer fave this fall. Pair the material with soft grey furniture and rugs for a decidedly Scandinavian look.
Yes, Millennial pink is still going strong! From armchairs to hot pink velvet sofas and bedding, the feminine hue is showing up on designer’s mood boards this fall. Dark, deep, rich pinks are also apropos for this season, as they help to create a cosy vibe when temperatures drop. Don’t have a huge budget? Adding a hot pink throw or a couple of pink pillows are both easy, and inexpensive ways to incorporate the colour.
Primary Coloured Paints
For fall/winter 2019/2020, Pantone has curated a palette which includes bright-yet-rich shades such as Summer Fig, a spicy red, and Antique Moss, a yellow-based green. Could this be the year you finally create that statement wall in your living room? We say go for it.
What better way to brighten your spirits during a dark, dreary autumn day than with a room adorned in palm trees and pineapples? Tropical prints are showing up in both fashion and interiors and the trend is continuing in full force this fall. Whether it’s wallpaper, a bedspread or a pineapple-shaped vase, the playful trend is easier to incorporate than you would imagine.
